April is Autism Awareness month. I was glad to be interviewed by Parenting Headline. My goal is to always get more people to know, accept and understand individuals with autism.
四月是自閉症宣傳月。我很高興能夠接受《親子頭條》的採訪。我的目標是讓更多的人了解、接受和理解自閉症患者。
I was invited to a radio broadcast in 2020 by Vancouver DBoys Club 三個小生愛回家Thanks to AM 1320, I had the opportunity to talk to another group of audience about autism. I believe that it is not limited to the parents and public to learn about autism. Seniors also need to understand how to live and communicate with their family members who may have autism.
在2020年, 我被AM1320溫哥華DBoys俱樂部 “三個小生愛回家”邀請接受訪問，我有機會和另一群觀眾談論自閉症。我相信，了解自閉症不應該僅受限於家長和公眾。老年人還需要了解如何與可能患有自閉症的家庭成員生活和溝通。
I was super excited about this experience! I had the opportunity to chat with a celebrity for an hour before the live show. Anita is a very hard-working lady who is deeply passionate about her job. I was a big fan when I talked to her the first time. Many thanks to Anita who let me talk about Autism in her YouTube channel. Unfortunately, there were some issues with her old channel which resulted in her to create a new channel. Because of this, this live broadcast cannot be viewed anymore. I deeply thank her for the invitation because we reached a couple of thousands of views which helped raise autism awareness to the Chinese community.
我對這次經歷非常興奮!在直播開始前，我能夠有機會和一位名人聊了一個小時。婉華是一位非常勤奮的女士，她對自己的工作充滿熱情。當我第一次和她談話的時候我還是她的超級粉絲。非常感謝婉華，她能讓我在她的YouTube頻道談論自閉症。可惜的是，因為她的舊頻道出現了一些問題，她需要創建一個新的頻道。因此，這個直播就無法再觀看了。我非常感謝她的邀請，因為我們的視頻瀏覽量達到了幾千次，幫助了華人社區提高對自閉症的認知。
This was a fun experience, but to be honest, I was quite nervous. I was invited to a show named ‘ 一份工的故事’ (Stories of a job) and was interviewed by Mary Lu and Reijen Lai. I was there to share my job working with individuals with autism. Many people found my job interesting and have not heard about the work I have done: Behaviour Interventionist, Behaviour Consultant, Educational Assistants…

I was again invited by AM 1470. This time, for a different show which was a phone-in show that talks about all kinds of topics related to our society and world. Sharing with the public about autism was such a rewarding experience!
這是一個很趣的經歷，但是說實話，我其實挺緊張的。我被邀請參加一個叫做“一份工的故事” 的節目，這個節目是由Mary Lu和 Reijen Lai採訪的。在那個節目當中，我分享了我如何與自閉症者工作的。很多人覺得我的工作很有趣但是從來沒有聽說過我曾經做過的工作: 例如，行為乾預導師、行為顧問、教育助理……等等。
I was thrilled to be contacted by Evergreen News, a free Chinese Newspaper by S.U.C.C.E.S.S in 2013. S.U.C.C.E.S.S. is an international, intercultural, multi-service agency that assists people in all stages of their Canadian journey.I also volunteered at S.U.C.C.E.S.S. when I was a high school student!
In this interview, I shared my knowledge about the autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Topics such as how common autism is, what Autism is and and how we can teach children with autism were covered. The purpose of this interview is to increase understanding and acceptance of people with autism and to foster a safe and supportive network for people with Autism.
在2013年，我非常高興能和《松鶴天地》，一個可供免費中文報紙的中僑機構取得了聯繫。 S.U.C.C.E.S.S. （中僑）是一個國際、跨文化、多服務機構，為身在加拿大各個階段的人們提供幫助。當我還是高中生的時候，我也曾在中僑做過志願者!
在這次採訪中，我分享了關於對自閉症譜系障礙(ASD)的知識。概括的主題包括自閉症的普遍性，自閉症是什麼，以及我們如何教育自閉症兒童。這次訪談的目的是為了增進大家對自閉症患者的理解和接受，為自閉症患者營造一個安全、支持的環境。我接受采訪的時候，也正好是我生第二個女兒的前幾天!這是一個多麼棒的回憶!

I was incredibly happy that I could help parents in Hong Kong while I was in Canada! Everything is possible! All you need to do is to trust yourself and give it a try!

Many thanks to Professor Chris Forlin who encouraged me to interview and record stories of parents who have children with autism. In 2012, we were able to find some resources on teaching children with autism in Hong Kong, but there were close to none with a focus on taking care of parents’ mental spirit. The mental health of parents plays an important role in parenting, especially for parents who have children with special needs. If you are feeling discouraged and helpless, you can contact me!
